Wow! Christmas is less than a few days away, and I am sure many of you are on the move seeing your children’s Christmas concerts & school parties, finalizing your gifts for giving, and preparing menus for your upcoming holiday dinners with your friends and family.
One thing that is usually an afterthought is the table setting, right? Well, today I am very excited to share with you a simple & eclectic Christmas table setting that you can create without spending a lot of money. All you need is four simple pieces to turn your everyday table into a festive holiday table setting.
If you have seen my post “How to Make A Christmas Tablescape” then you may have already got a sneak peak on how I will be decorating my table for my 1st Christmas dinner in our new home. For starters you will need the following basics that you may already have in your home:
- Dinnerware
- Flatware
- Glassware
- Placemat
- Napkins
This year I decided to break out our formal dinner set that we received as a wedding gift over 16 years ago. The set is called Sweet Leilani by Noritake. I love this set because it is simple and easy to transition into any occasion without looking dated.
You can still find this set at places like Amazon, bed bath & beyond, and Wayfair.com. To dress up the beautiful set, I decided to add a simple scalloped silver charger from pier1 to add a bit of sparkle to the table. These chargers were only $4.95 each and an inexpensive way to add a bit of flair to your table without breaking the bank!!
The next thing I decided to do is to add some texture by adding some festive holiday florals to the center of my place settings. I found these decorative pieces from my local Hobby Lobby arts and crafts store!! I love shopping there because I can always find creative holiday pieces for my home without spending a lot of money.
Shopping tip: Shop for holiday decor at Hobby Lobby around the end of November early December because they start running 50% off deals prior to the day after Christmas. At this time you will still have a great selection to shop for vs. dealing with the day after Christmas crowds and a picked-over selection.
Instead of making a personalized place card for each guest, I decided to create a special holiday greeting place card for each guest. At our home, our guests are invited to sit where they want with the exception of the head chairs. They already know that’s where my hubby and myself sit at each meal.
I created these place card warps by using word Microsoft word and printed the greeting on a piece of scrapbooking paper from Hobby Lobby. It’s super easy, and you can update that the greeting for any occasion you may have in your home. If you would like to learn how I created this, please comment below and I will share.
I love how my table turned out!! It’s simple, eclectic, and Christmas festive. I also really LOVE how my Christmas centerpiece turned out too!! I still can’t believe that I crafted this piece with my bare hands. It was fun, and it is totally reusable for future theme dinners in the new year. I hope that you’ve enjoyed my simple table setting and find inspiration to create the perfect table setting for your family this holiday season.
